Privacy Statement
The Harvard Medical Student Review (HMSR) collects personal information only to operate the journal. This statement explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
When you register as a reader, author, or reviewer we collect your name, email address, and institutional affiliation, along with any optional details you choose to add, such as an ORCID iD, biography, or mailing address. When you submit or review a manuscript we store that manuscript, its metadata, and related correspondence. Our servers also keep standard web logs.
How We Use It
We use this information to manage submission, peer review, editing, and publication; to contact you about your submissions or reviews; and to send journal announcements to users who have chosen to receive them. We do not use your information to build advertising or marketing profiles.
What Becomes Public
The names, affiliations, and any ORCID iDs or biographies supplied by authors are published alongside their articles and deposited with Crossref as part of DOI registration. This metadata is also exposed through the journal’s OAI-PMH interface and made available to indexing services. Reviewer identities are never published: HMSR operates single-blind review, so reviewers see author identities but authors do not see reviewer identities.
Cookies
The journal sets cookies only to keep you signed in and to remember session preferences. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies, and the site carries no advertising.
Usage Statistics
We record counts of article views and downloads so we can report readership to authors and indexing services. These statistics are reported in aggregate and are not used to identify or profile individual readers.
Sharing With Others
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. Beyond the published article metadata described above, we share personal data only where necessary to run the journal (for example, with the hosting provider that operates this site) or where required by law.
Retention
Account and submission records are kept for as long as the journal operates, so that the scholarly record remains verifiable and authorship can be confirmed. You may ask us to deactivate your account or correct your details at any time.
Your Choices
To access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to stop receiving journal notifications, contact the editors at hmsr.editor@gmail.com. We will respond to reasonable requests promptly.
The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
