Let us not train our future colleagues merely to replace us. Let us, instead, create the conditions that will enable them to redeem us. This foreword reflects on the essential role of humility in medicine, the importance of questioning what we teach, and the urgent need to embrace process-oriented approaches over outcome-oriented thinking. The essays in this volume demonstrate that when Harvard medical students articulate their wishes for the future of medicine, they converge on a shared answer: process over outcome.
